After eight years of dating, the 40-year-old Portuguese soccer player and his longtime companion, Georgina Rodriguez, are engaged. On Monday, August 11, the soon-to-be bride shared a picture of her hand resting on Ronaldo’s, displaying her dazzling ring, on Instagram to share the good news.
The two, who initially made their relationship official in early 2017, are parents to five children: fifteen-year-old son Cristiano Jr., whom Ronaldo received in a previous relationship; twins Eva Maria and Mateo, eight; daughter Alana, seven; and daughter Bella, three.
In April 2022, he and Rodriguez had earlier revealed the passing of Ángel, Bella’s newborn twin brother. Before making Instagram official in May of the same year, Ronaldo and Rodriguez, both 31 years old, had their first public appearance together at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich in January 2017.
The couple announced the surrogate delivery of their first set of twins in June 2017, then on November 12, 2017, they welcomed their daughter Alana. Before Ángel’s untimely death in 2022, the couple enjoyed family vacations, welcomed their three youngest children, and frequently fueled engagement rumors in the years that followed.
The pair talked about their early dating experiences, including when Ronaldo first met the then-Gucci store worker, in Rodriguez’s Netflix series I Am Georgina. An audio translation in English at the time stated that Ronaldo found her to be a “very interesting girl, so much more mature for her age.
