Soon, Meta Will Use Your Chats with its AI Chatbot to Make Sales

In the near future, Meta will use user feedback to improve its artificial intelligence chatbot’s ability to sell products. The business announced on Wednesday that it will soon target customers with even more individualized advertisements based on their conversations and interactions with Meta AI. Although the change won’t take effect until December 16, users will begin receiving notifications of it the following week.

For instance, Meta claims that if a user discusses hiking with the chatbot, it will recognize that the user is interested in the activity and provide more content about it. However, considering how many individuals already use chatbots like therapists to trigger potentially dangerous material recommendations, the shift also increases the pressure on Meta to prevent sensitive or uncomfortable chats with the AI, such as those about relationships.

In its blog post announcing the change on Wednesday, Meta stated, “Like other personalized services, we tailor the ads and content you see based on your activity, ensuring your experience evolves as your interests change.” Many individuals anticipate that their interactions will increase the relevance of what they observe. AI interactions will soon be another indicator that we utilize to enhance people’s experiences.
