Israel Attacks Gaza After Claiming that Hamas Has Violated the Ceasefire

In retaliation for alleged breaches of the truce mediated by the United States, Israel has launched airstrikes in Gaza. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Hamas had attacked Israeli troops in Gaza on Tuesday and violated the agreement to deliver the remains of the captives who had died.

Claiming “no connection” to the attack, the Palestinian armed group reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement. The Israeli attacks killed at least 33 Palestinians, according to medical officials and the Hamas-run Civil Defence organisation in Gaza. Homes, schools, and residential complexes in Khan Younis, al-Bureij, Beit Lahia, and Gaza City were all affected by the attacks.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered “forceful strikes” by the military, according to a brief statement released by his office Tuesday night, but it did not explain. On the other hand, Katz claimed that Hamas had crossed “a bright red line” by attacking Israeli forces in Gaza. He issued a warning, saying, “Hamas will pay many times over for attacking the soldiers and for breaking the deal to return the fallen hostages.
