Although Andrew is to blame for the controversy that has surrounded him, it has had a significant effect on his immediate family, including his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and their two daughters. The 66-year-old Ms Ferguson has been plagued by her personal connections to convicted sexual offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Although it is thought that she will not be going to Sandringham, Norfolk, with Andrew, she will now leave Royal Lodge and find her own place to live. Because they are the daughters of a Sovereign’s son, Princesses Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, will continue to hold their titles. However, it has also been questioned if they can separate themselves from their parents’ mess.
Up until lately, Ms. Ferguson had avoided the spotlight of the Epstein affair. She lost her duchess title when Andrew relinquished his Duke of York title a few weeks ago. However, after an email from 2011 surfaced in which she referred to Epstein as her “supreme friend” and appeared to apologize for her public condemnation of him, she was removed as an ambassador or patron by a number of charities in September. Her own foundation, Sarah’s Trust, is the sole charity with which she is still associated.
