Due to Fire Hazards, Stellantis is Recalling 375,000 Jeep SUVs And Advising Owners to Park Outdoors

Following 19 fire incidents, Stellantis announced on Tuesday that it is recalling 375,000 plug-in hybrid Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee SUVs globally due to battery failures. The company advised owners to park outside until the issue is resolved.

Approximately 2020–2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and 2022–2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe SUVs are covered by the recall. According to the firm, a recall remedy is on the horizon, but in the meanwhile, owners should avoid charging their cars and park away from buildings due to fire hazards. Stellantis reported 19 fires and one injury related to the problem to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The United States is home to over 320,000 of the recalled cars.

According to the carmaker, Samsung SDI produced the batteries. Following complaints of two injuries, Stellantis and Samsung SDI conducted an investigation and found that the same fault that was revealed in the 2024 recall of 154,000 plug-in hybrid Jeep EVs was the cause of a fire earlier this year.

According to Stellantis, there have been ten reports of fires from batteries outside the purview of the 2024 recall and nine incidents of fires starting from the battery in plug-in Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee cars that received software in that recall.
