Following The Trump Feud, Prominent Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene Will resign From Congress

After a public altercation with President Donald Trump, Georgia congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene unexpectedly announced her resignation from office in January. Greene, who rose to prominence in US politics as one of Trump’s Maga celebrities, announced her departure from Congress on January 5, 2026, in a social media video message. She wrote, “I look forward to a new path ahead,” on social media.

Before their recent falling out, Greene became well-known for her ardent support of the president and for promoting conspiracy theories. When documents pertaining to the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein were made public, she and Trump got into a heated argument.

Greene listed her accomplishments and denounced Trump in a video speech announcing her resignation. Trump had vowed to support a Republican candidate to defeat her in the upcoming race.

Despite announcing her resignation from the House of Representatives, Greene has reportedly expressed interest in running for state government, either as governor of Georgia or for a Senate seat, according to US media reports. During their public dispute, the president wrote on Truth Social that he had earlier advised her not to compete for either of those positions because of low public polling.
