Trump Claims that European Leaders Want to Meet, and Ukraine Responds to The US Peace Plan

As the outlines of a precarious potential agreement take shape and the US president continues to make it clear that he wants the conflict resolved quickly, Ukraine delivered its response to the most recent US-drafted peace proposal aimed at ending the war with Russia to the Trump administration on Wednesday, US and Ukrainian officials told CNN.

In recent weeks, efforts to put an end to the protracted conflict have advanced dramatically. On Wednesday, President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that “a lot of people say it’s closer than it’s ever been,” implying that a solution would soon be “figured out.

He said that he “discussed Ukraine in pretty strong words” with his German, French, and British counterparts, who had suggested that Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky travel to Europe this weekend to talk.

We’ll decide based on what they return with,” Trump declared. “We want to avoid wasting time. Discussions are “moving quickly,” according to a European source, despite the US president’s persistent pressure and impatience. The disclosure less than a month ago of a 28-point draft proposal to end the war that was produced by the US and supported by Russia has sparked a diplomatic frenzy.
