DOJ is Looking into The Governor of Minnesota And the Mayor of Minneapolis, Who Claim the investigation is an Intimidation Tactic

The U.S. Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey over claims they may have obstructed federal law enforcement, according to officials familiar with the matter.

A grand jury has reportedly prepared subpoenas for both men as part of the inquiry, though neither office had received formal notice as of Friday evening and it was unclear when the documents would be served. The Justice Department declined to comment publicly on the probe.

The investigation comes amid growing tension in Minnesota linked to the deployment of thousands of federal immigration agents to the Minneapolis area. The surge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol personnel has sparked protests and clashes, particularly after the fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE officer, driving further unrest in the region.

President Donald Trump and his administration have sharply criticised Walz and Frey for their handling of the situation, with Trump suggesting he might consider invoking the Insurrection Act to use military forces if unrest continues.
