A Colombian Air Force Hercules Plane Goes Down in Putumayo While Carrying Troops

According to Pedro Arnulfo Sanchez, the Minister of Defense, a Colombian Air Force Hercules jet experienced a major accident on Tuesday while it was transporting personnel of the Public Force. The accident occurred while the plane was taking off from Puerto Leguízamo, in the department of Putumayo in the southern region of the country.

It is with profound sorrow that I report that a Hercules aircraft belonging to our Air Force experienced a tragic accident while it was taking off from Puerto Leguízamo (Putumayo). The aircraft was transporting troops belonging to our Public Force,” the minister stated in a message that was shared on social networks. He went on to say that military forces had already arrived in the vicinity of the tragedy, despite the fact that “the number of possible victims and the causes of the accident have not yet been precisely determined.

Sánchez stated that “all of the care protocols for the victims and their families have been activated, as well as the corresponding investigation,” and he urged people to exercise caution while the investigations are still ongoing.” I ask you to refrain from speculating until we have official information,” he said, calling the accident as “a deeply painful event for the country.” He did this out of respect for the suffering it would cause them.
