According to local media, a lady was punished by a South Korean court for sexual misconduct after she unintentionally pulled down a coworker’s pants and his pants in front of their peers. The 50-year-old lady has been sentenced to undergo eight hours of sexual assault prevention instruction in addition to the 2.8 million won ($2,100; £1,500) punishment.
According to reports, the event took place in a restaurant kitchen in the northeastern province of Gangwon in October. The woman’s argument that she had planned it as a practical joke on her 20-something coworker was dismissed by the Chuncheon District Court’s decision on Saturday.
However, the court stated that it was because she had demonstrated regret and had no past criminal history. According to the judge, she had knelt down to apologise to the man and his parents.
One comment beneath the Chosun Daily’s case report reads, “It seems like they punished a simple prank too harshly. However, another reader counters, “The fine isn’t that high. Why are you doing pranks like this? Do you think this is a prank?
Despite claims that it constitutes bullying, pulling down someone’s pants—also referred to as “pantsing” or “debugging” which may involve their underwear—is sometimes regarded as a popular practical joke.
