After Not showing up For the Summons, the US Ambassador to France Was Denied Entry to the Government

US Ambassador Charles Kushner’s access to government ministers has been barred by France after he did not attend a meeting to address remarks made by the Trump administration on the murder of Quentin Deranque, a far-right activist.

The US embassy in Paris repeated remarks made by the Trump administration in Washington over Deranque, prompting Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot to call Kushner, the father of US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and advisor Jared Kushner.

Following altercations between far-right and radical-left supporters on the fringes of a demonstration against a member of the left-wing France Unbowed (LFI) party in Lyon on February 12, Deranque, 23, passed away from brain injuries. The foreign ministry stated, “The minister (Barrot) has asked that he (Kushner) no longer be permitted direct access to members of the French government due to this apparent inability to understand the fundamental requirements of the ambassadorial mission and the honor of representing one’s country.”

It stated that Ambassador Charles Kushner may still fulfill his responsibilities and attend the Quai d’Orsay to hold the diplomatic talks required to resolve any tensions that may inevitably develop in a 250-year friendship.

The US State Department’s Counterterrorism Bureau had stated on X that “reports, corroborated by the French Minister of the Interior, that Quentin Deranque was killed by left-wing militants, should concern us all,” and Kushner had been called to clarify the statement.
