After the Office of an Australian PM Contender was Vandalised, a Teenager was Prosecuted

Following the third instance of vandalism against Australian opposition leader Peter Dutton’s office during the election campaign, a teenager has been prosecuted. In Arana Hills, Brisbane, the Liberal Party leader’s office was vandalised with posters and splashed with red paint that criticised his position on a variety of subjects.

Four persons who were spotted acting strangely at the location in the early hours of the morning, according to the police, ran away when they arrived, but an 18-year-old woman was found by the dog squad and accused of wilful damage. Australians will cast their ballots in an election on Saturday, May 3. Dutton’s remarks on ceremonial Aboriginal practices have sparked controversy in recent days.

The opposition leader’s remarks that Aboriginal “welcome to country” ceremonies are “overdone” have drawn criticism from numerous Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, including former party members. The brief ceremony honours traditional landowners and has become a standard feature at public gatherings.

The words “always was, always will be Aboriginal land” were displayed on one of the posters in his office. His remarks about finding “common ground” with Donald Trump, his position on the Israel-Gaza conflict, and his connections to mining tycoon Gina Rinehart were all questioned by others. Earlier this month, the words “maggot” and “scum” were painted in black on the same office. A few days later, a glass was broken and white paint was splattered over the entryway.
