One week before Poland’s second round of presidential elections begins, Romanian President-elect Nicusor Dan visited Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw on Sunday. Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki, the two front-runners, were to be the targets of two sizable marches in central Warsaw on Sunday.

The pro-European mayor of Bucharest, Dan, participated in the so-called “Great Patriots March” in favour of Rafal Trzaskowski, a candidate for the Civic Coalition.

In a speech at the march, Dan emphasised that Trzaskowski and he had similar interests and beliefs. Dan said that he believes in a strong Poland inside a strong EU and that nations cannot thrive without a unified EU.

Nationalist George Simion, the Romanian presidential candidate, also travelled to Poland on May 13 to promote Karol Nawrocki, the candidate backed by the Law and Justice or PiS parties and Trzaskowski’s rival in the runoff on Sunday. The Polish capital saw a march in favour of Nawrocki that same day.

Before participating in a march in favour of Rafał Trzaskowski, the Civic Coalition’s presidential candidate, Romanian President-elect Nicușor Dan met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw on Sunday morning.
