Victoria residents have been advised to be ready for “property loss or worse” due to the severe heatwave conditions that are plaguing much of the nation. Most states and territories are expected to experience record-high temperatures on Friday and Saturday, with South Australia and Victoria in particular preparing for potentially dangerous fire conditions due to high temperatures and strong winds.
Victoria has a complete fire prohibition, and every area of the state has been rated as having “catastrophic” or “extreme” fire danger. Victorians should brace themselves for more property loss or worse,” Jason Heffernan, chief officer of the Country Fire Authority (CFA), told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on Friday.
Yesterday’s weather was very bad. They’re disastrous now,” Heffernan remarked. On Friday, temperatures in Victoria are predicted to reach 42°C. According to authorities, a blaze near Longwood in central Victoria has burned across almost 36,000 hectares, destroying at least ten buildings in the little community of Ruffy.
The town has been “severely affected,” according to Ruffy CFA commander George Noye. Some properties have completely collapsed. It is completely sad that they have lost their livelihoods, animals, and shearing sheds.
