Actress Blake Lively has made two attempts to retract her statements against filmmaker Justin Baldoni. Since Lively sued Baldoni in December 2024 after they collaborated on the movie It Ends With Us, alleging sexual harassment and a smear campaign, the two have been embroiled in a court battle.
As part of their defence against her allegations of “severe emotional distress and pain, humiliation, embarrassment,” Baldoni’s legal team requested that Lively make her medical records, including therapy notes, available to the public, Variety said. According to the magazine, Lively is attempting to dispel allegations of both deliberate and careless infliction of mental anguish.
The court will choose whether to reject the allegations or order Lively to provide details about her mental health. Variety contacted Baldoni’s solicitors, but they chose not to comment. The BBC has also contacted both parties for comment.
Baldoni’s legal team submitted the following documents on Monday: “Ms. Lively’s counsel recently informed us, in writing, that Ms. Lively is withdrawing her [infliction of emotional distress] claims, rather than complying with the Medical RFPs [Request for Proposal].”
They argued that Lively denied their “reasonable request that the withdrawal of such claims be with prejudice,” raising the prospect of their being refiled.
