Grok Stops AI image Creation for Non-Payers in Response to Criticism Over Nudity

Following criticism over its use to produce sexualized deepfakes of women and children, Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok disabled its image creation feature for non-paying users. A number of nations have recently openly retaliated against the tool for producing sexually graphic photos, and Musk has been threatened with sanctions.

According to reports, some users utilized Grok to create images of naked women and children, occasionally placing them in sexualized poses. Grok responded to users on Musk’s social media site X on Friday, saying: At this time, only paid subscribers are able to create and alter images. To use these features, you must subscribe.

Many users of the program are now unable to utilize the AI to create or modify photos as a result of the modification. Paying users are required to provide the site with their credit card number and personal information.

This week, the European Commission declared that the images of naked women and children were illegal, and on Thursday, it mandated that X keep all internal records and information about Grok until the end of 2026.

According to media sources, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that X has “got to get a grip of this” and mentioned that he requested communications regulator Ofcom “for all options to be on the table.” He declared that the pictures were “unlawful” and that Britain would “not tolerate it.
