Sometimes, history generates events that seem too unbelievable to be true. In the United States, one of these dates is June 14. It’s the day the United States Army celebrates its 250th birthday, a momentous occasion to remember.
Since its formal foundation on that day in 1775, more than a year before the Declaration of Independence, the United States military has played an essential part in the birth and development of the American country.
The 14th of June also happens to be President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday, a coincidence that the White House has seized upon as a chance to fulfil Trump’s long-held dream to conduct a military parade in Washington.
The event had been planned for almost a year and would include demonstrations of military equipment, musical performances, and a fitness competition on the National Mall. Then, two months ago, Trump became engaged. And now a procession is on the way.
Officially, it is not about the President. According to the White House, the historic commemoration of the Army’s 250th birthday “will honour generations of selfless Americans who have risked everything for our freedom.
According to sources, Trump may not have always appreciated the sacrifice, as he has previously referred to US troops in a cemetery in Paris as “losers” and “suckers.” Trump did not look eager to join the army, having escaped the conscription during the Vietnam War multiple times.
