Hours after Israel’s defence minister threatened a “prolonged” war with the Islamic Republic, Iran declared it would not reopen nuclear talks while under assault. In Geneva, European officials asked Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to rekindle diplomatic relations with the United States on his nation’s nuclear program.
In a video speech, his Israeli counterpart, Eyal Zamir, warned of “difficult days ahead” and stated that his nation should be prepared for a “prolonged campaign”. After Iran launched missiles into central Israel, the Israeli military announced a fresh round of attacks against Iranian missile launch and storage facilities, and fighting continued into the night.
There were reports of explosions near Tel Aviv, Israel. According to reports, falling shrapnel in central Israel set a structure on fire. Araghchi stated that only once Israel’s “aggression is stopped” will Iran be willing to explore talks.
He maintained that Israel’s assaults were illegal under international law and that Iran’s nuclear program was harmless. He said that Iran will keep “exercising its legitimate right of self-defence.” He stated, “I make it very clear that Iran’s defence capabilities are not negotiable.”
Israel’s envoy to the UN declared that Israel would not cease attacking nuclear facilities until they were “dismantled” and charged Iran of having a “genocidal agenda” and a persistent danger.
