Israel Receives The Remains of a Soldier Who Died in Gaza in 2014

The body of Lt. Hadar Goldin, a soldier slain in an ambush by Hamas in 2014 and whose body has been detained in Gaza ever since, has been delivered to Israel. Lt. Goldin, who was 23 when he passed away, has been officially recognized and will now be buried, according to the Israeli military. He left behind a fiancée, two brothers, a sister, and his parents.

As part of a truce agreement, Hamas’s military wing announced on Sunday that it will turn over Lt. Goldin’s body. Under the terms of the first part of the agreement, Hamas has now released all 20 of the captives who are still alive as well as 24 of the 28 hostages who have died.

Earlier on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had reaffirmed his plan to return the bodies of all dead captives and stated that Lt. Goldin’s family will finally be able to offer him a Jewish funeral. So far, we have returned 250. “We’ll get them all back,” he declared.

Deep condolences to the family and continues to make every effort to return all the deceased hostages and is prepared for the continued implementation of the agreement” was the statement released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
