France would ban minors under 15 from using social media within “a few months” if this is not done at the European level, President Emmanuel Macron stated on Tuesday. After a 14-year-old student stabbed a school employee at the entrance of a secondary school in Nogent, Macron told the public television station France 2 that social media use by children under the age of 15 must be prohibited.
I’m giving us a few months to start mobilising in Europe. If not, we’ll begin doing it in France. We’re eager,” he remarked. During a regular bag check at the middle school in eastern France, a student fatally stabbed a staff member, according to officials.
According to the National Gendarmerie, the suspect used the same knife in both attacks, and a police officer helping with the luggage inspections was slightly hurt during the arrest process. It was unclear at first if the student’s social media posts were connected to the attack or why the local media made the connection.
