Fox News host Laura Ingraham took a more probing approach than usual in her latest interview with President Donald Trump, pressing him on several policy points and reflecting divisions within his own support base.
During the Monday sit-down, Ingraham questioned Trump’s assertion that “costs are way down,” asking pointedly whether voters might simply be misinterpreting their economic hardships. The exchange momentarily caught the president off guard.
The interview covered a range of topics, including the ongoing government shutdown, the removal of the East Wing, and Trump’s public remarks about Christianity. When asked about tensions within the MAGA movement, Trump responded, “Don’t forget, MAGA was my idea. I know what MAGA wants better than anybody else, and MAGA wants to see our country thrive.” Ingraham’s questioning style matched the tone of her nightly program, where she often aims to guide Trump toward positions she views as more politically advantageous.
After Trump’s 2016 election, Ingraham was briefly considered for the role of White House press secretary but declined when she was denied a policymaking role. Instead, she has remained an influential voice outside the administration, using her platform to shape conservative opinion and, occasionally, to counsel the president directly.
