On Monday, the first visitors from Poland, Hungary, and India to the International Space Station (ISS) concluded a private mission and boarded SpaceX to return to Earth. The next morning, their capsule planned for a splashdown in the Pacific off the coast of Southern California after disengaging from the orbiting laboratory.
India, Poland, and Hungary launched their rocket into orbit for the first time in almost 40 years with the brief, privately funded mission. Axiom Space, which chartered the journey, employs Peggy Whitson, America’s most seasoned space flier, to accompany the three astronauts.
