NASA wants to send a crew around the Moon for the first time in more than 50 years in early March. This would be the farthest humans have ever travelled into space. Four astronauts will go on a 10-day trip around the far side of the Moon and back to Earth as part of the Artemis II mission. This will set the stage for a future Moon landing.
After a successful “wet dress rehearsal,” which is a very important test before launch where the rocket is fuelled with fuel and goes through the countdown sequence, NASA set the earliest launch date for March 6 (early on March 7 in the UK).
The Artemis crew tried to practise at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida for the second time. Every night I look up at the Moon and see it, and I get really excited because I can feel she’s calling us and we’re ready,” Lori Glaze of NASA said during a news conference on Friday. We can clearly sense the excitement for Artemis II building. “It’s coming. The first rehearsal, which took place at the beginning of February, had to be cut short due to a hydrogen fuel leak at the launch pad.
