A premium jumbo jet that would be used as an Air Force One presidential plane is being discussed by the White House with the Qatari royal family. Qatar stated that the transfer of an aircraft for “temporary use” was being discussed between the two nations, but disputed that the jet would be a gift.
According to CBS News, the BBC’s news partner in America, when Trump’s tenure ends, the jet will be given to his presidential library. Trump is scheduled to visit Qatar this week as part of his first significant international trip of his second term.
The US Department of Defence and Qatar’s Ministry of Defence were negotiating, according to Ali Al-Ansari, Qatar’s Media Attaché to the US. No judgement has been taken, and the relevant legal offices are still reviewing the issue.
According to sources from CBS News, the aircraft would require retrofitting and clearance from security authorities before it can be used immediately. Critics will undoubtedly have ethical and legal concerns about the plane’s handling and possible worth.
“Any gift given by a foreign government is always accepted in full compliance with all applicable laws,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Sunday. The administration of President Trump is dedicated to complete openness.
