Preliminary exit polls on Sunday night gave Rafał Trzaskowski, the leader of Poland’s Civic Platform (PO) party, 30.8% of the vote in the first round of the presidential election. The survey, which Ipsos prepared on behalf of TVP, TVN, and Polsat, indicated that PiS-backed candidate Karol Nawrocki came in second with 29.1% of the vote.

In a different survey conducted for Telewizja Republika by the Nationwide Research Group (NRG), Trzaskowski received 31.6% of the vote, while Nawrocki received 29.8%. The presidential runoff, which is scheduled on June 1st, will now pit the two contenders against one another.

The State Election Commission stated at a 6:30 p.m. press conference that by 5 p.m., the turnout had risen to 50.69%. In contrast, 64.5% of voters participated in the first round of the 2020 presidential election. In Poland, little over 28 million people may cast ballots.

The State Election Commission will hold news briefings on Monday and Tuesday to provide updates on voter turnout and outcomes.

If there is a high turnout, we may have to wait up to two days for the official election results. The head of the State Election Commission expressed his optimism that the results will be made public late Monday night.
