United States forward Trinity Rodman has signed a new three year contract with Washington Spirit that is being described as the most valuable deal in women’s football. According to her agent, the agreement is worth around two million dollars per year including bonuses and will keep her at the club until 2028.
The 23 year old became a free agent after her previous contract ended in December, but the Spirit moved quickly to secure her future. Rodman said she feels grateful and excited, calling the deal a major moment for her career and for the women’s game.
Her agent claims the contract will make Rodman the highest paid female footballer in the world once new salary cap rules in the NWSL take effect in July. However, sources in Spain believe Barcelona star Aitana Bonmati will still earn more overall.
Washington Spirit owner Michele Kang praised Rodman as a generational talent and a key part of the club’s future. Rodman helped the Spirit win the NWSL title in 2021, has earned 47 caps for the USA, and won Olympic gold in Paris in 2024.
