President Donald Trump was accused of a “brazen abuse of power” by California Governor Gavin Newsom in a televised speech on Tuesday night. His state’s immigrant areas were being terrorised by the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement actions, he said.
He cautioned, “Of course, it won’t stop here, even if California may be the first. “Democracy is under assault before our eyes. Newsom’s remarks were the most recent exchange between the president of the United States and the Democratic leader of the nation’s most populous state. The conflict between the two leaders poses a serious obstacle for the governor, who is 57 years old.
Although it may not be in his political interests, he adds that Newsom has to protect California as the state’s governor. “It’s an obligation,” he declared. Trump claims that Newsom is “grossly incompetent” and that he did not sufficiently address the violent outbursts in Los Angeles. He dropped the sarcastic moniker “Newscum” he had previously used for the governor and declared on Tuesday that he thought it would be a “great thing” to arrest him.
The White House is reportedly debating whether to stop providing California with federal funding, including billions of dollars in education funds.
