A Gallup survey released on Monday claims that while the desire to leave France has only increased, trust in French institutions has fallen this year. Several French expatriates and prospective expatriates were interviewed by Euronews about their experiences.
In December, Julien departed Paris. The restaurant owner, who is currently based in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, said, “I didn’t feel happy in France anymore. This year, Julien had seen a noticeable decline in the number of patrons at his restaurant. This year, I’ve lost a lot of clients. People can’t afford to go out and shop like they used to
He claimed to have found “a kind of acceptance of others” in Canada that he had lost in France. He bemoaned that “there’s a lot of hatred between people” in France. “People prefer to pull at each other rather than help each other,” he stated.
Despite holding a managerial position, Antoine told Euronews that he has reached a financial dead end because he is unable to “live in the town where I was born” or purchase a home on his own without an inheritance.
