New Files Add to a Very Important Enigma Concerning the People Who Partied with Jeffrey Epstein

People in the U.S. need to know that it is not against the law to hang out with Mr. Epstein. Maybe Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche is right, since the standard of proof for prosecution is so high.

But his comment on Fox News on Monday brutally ignored the victims of Jeffrey Epstein who were left with lifelong pain after being lured into his sleazy orbit. And it doesn’t really show what the additional pile of information from the Department of Justice means for the bigger picture.

A few million documents reveal the rarefied top level of Epstein’s global social and economic network. The disgraced financier was the curator and glue that held together an elite group of people who had money, fame, power, and influence.

Over the years, he has known a lot of important people, including a past US president and a current one, a prince, a crown princess, cabinet secretaries and ministers, and commerce, entertainment, law, banking, and diplomacy titans. Scandals in Europe are increasingly threatening royal families and administrations.

People who were once friends, business partners, and dinner guests of Epstein have run our country and built an economy that enriches them while leaving many of us behind. They’ve been on our TVs, owned sports teams, or sold us things we need. They’ve made software operating systems that run our lives now and are creating a future where AI will be in charge.
