US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have announced that they have reached an agreement on a new peace plan for Gaza, urging Hamas to accept the terms.
The proposal calls for an immediate halt to military operations. Within 72 hours, Hamas would be required to release 20 Israeli hostages alive, along with the remains of more than two dozen believed to be dead. In return, Israel would release hundreds of detained Palestinians.
According to a Palestinian source involved in the ceasefire negotiations, Hamas has received a 20-point proposal from the White House. The plan rules out any future role for Hamas in governing Gaza but keeps open the possibility of an eventual Palestinian state.
Speaking at a White House news conference, Trump described the deal as “a historic day for peace.” He added that if Hamas rejects the plan, the US will fully back Israel in what he called finishing the job of destroying the threat of Hamas.” Netanyahu echoed this stance, warning that Israel would act decisively if Hamas refuses or fails to comply.
The Palestinian Authority, which administers parts of the West Bank, welcomed Trump’s efforts as “sincere and determined.” In a statement released by its WAFA news agency, the authority pledged to work with the United States, regional states, and international partners to end the conflict, ensure humanitarian aid reaches Gaza, and secure the release of hostages and prisoners.
