Following his release from Russian prison, American educator Marc Fogel was welcomed home by US President Donald Trump, who claimed that Vladimir Putin had received “not much” in exchange. Without revealing the identity of the captive, Trump declared that another would be released on Wednesday.
Late Tuesday night, Mr. Fogel, a 63-year-old former diplomat, arrived at Joint Base Andrews, which is located just outside of Washington, DC, before making his way to the White House. “Russia treated us very well,” he remarked. “Actually, I hope that’s the beginning of a relationship where we can end that war and millions of people can stop being killed.” Since Russia invaded Ukraine almost three years ago, hundreds of thousands of people are thought to have died, most of them troops.
