Following separate phone discussions with the leaders prior to the announcement, US President Donald Trump declared that he will invite Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the G20 summit, which is set for Miami next year.
With a focus on peace efforts, conflict resolution, and increased trade and economic cooperation in a region rich in key minerals, the invitation highlights Washington’s rising interest in Central Asia. Trump stated that US relations with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are “spectacular” on his social media site, Truth Social.
The two leaders’ conversation focused on bilateral relations and global issues, such as the conflict in Ukraine, according to President Tokayev’s press office. Tokayev emphasized the intricacy of the situation, pointing out that territorial disputes are still crucial and call for cooperation from all parties.
He urged expertise, adaptability, and patience in the search for a peaceful resolution. Kazakhstan has stated that it is willing to organize talks in an effort to foster goodwill, even if it does not plan to act as a formal mediator.
