Following their most recent round of nuclear talks in Geneva on Thursday, tensions between the United States and Iran are still at an all-time high, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to make a brief visit to Israel early next week.
As negotiations began in Geneva, the USS Gerald R. Ford, the largest aircraft carrier in the world, departed the Souda Bay port in Crete on Thursday. The supercarrier’s destination was unknown, but according to Israeli media, it is expected to reach Israeli shores on Friday.
On numerous occasions, US President Donald Trump has cautioned Tehran to complete a nuclear agreement with Washington “before it is too late.” Trump stated that he was “not thrilled” with Iran’s stance during the Geneva talks and that he had not yet made up his mind about attacking.
However, the announcement of Rubio’s visit might signal a prolonged strike timetable. Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, Iran, and Lebanon are among the regional objectives that the top US diplomat will be discussing during his visit on Monday and Tuesday, according to the State Department.
