Early on Sunday morning, Russia launched a ballistic missile at the city of Mykolaiv in southern Ukraine. At least five people—three men and two women—were hurt, according to the responding authorities, and they were sent to neighboring hospitals for medical attention. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
It is the most recent of several strikes that have struck more than ten cities nationwide. Officials claim that at least ten people have died and another seventy have been injured as a result of the Kremlin’s attacks over the last twenty-four hours.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Moscow launched a bombardment of hundreds of drones and missiles. At least 268 drones were seen entering Ukrainian airspace on Saturday and into the early hours of Sunday, according to Kyiv’s aerial defenses, 249 of which were intercepted. According to the Air Force, one ballistic missile and at least 19 drones—Iranian-made Shahed strike UAVs—did hit their targets, which were spread out over 15 different places.
Regional Governor Vadym Filashkin said there were two fatalities in Dobropillia and Mykolaivka in Donetsk in the eastern Donbas region. Separate attacks on the area, which is regarded as the war’s most active frontline, injured nine more people.
Attacks on the southern part of Zaporizhzhia resulted in the deaths of two more people and the injuries of five more, including a toddler.
