JD Vance, the US vice president, made a concise appearance on Bluesky; minutes after taking office, his account was banned. On Wednesday at 4:50 p.m. ET, Vance made an announcement about his arrival, saying, “Hello Bluesky, This app has reportedly emerged as the go-to resource for rational political discourse and analysis. I’m really excited to be here and interact with each and every one of you.
However, attempts to see his page around 6:30 p.m. were greeted with the following notice: “Account has been suspended.” According to reports, the vice president’s posts contained allegations that pharmaceutical companies had an impact on healthcare choices and critiques of medical interventions for transgender children.
The most recent Supreme Court ruling, which addressed a challenge to Tennessee’s restriction on giving hormone therapy and puberty blockers to minors, was covered in Vance’s initial post, which he screenshotted and published on X.
In light of this, I thought Justice Thomas’s opinion on transgender adolescent medical treatment was very instructive. He contends that many of our so-called “experts” have pushed experimental therapies on our children using weak reasons and shoddy science.
