Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton passed away at the age of 79, and Goldie Hawn, Steve Martin, and Ben Stiller delivered tributes to her. Born in Los Angeles, Keaton rose to stardom in the 1970s as Kay Adams-Corleone in the Godfather movies.
She was also well-known for her leading parts in movies including Annie Hall, Father of the Bride, and First Wives Club, for which she received the 1978 Academy Award for Best Actress. A trail of fairy dust, filled with particles of light and memories beyond imagination” is what fellow First Wives Club co-star Goldie Hawn described Keaton leaving behind.
Hawn posted the following on Instagram: “How do we say goodbye? When your heart is broken, what words can you think of? You’re very modest and have never loved compliments, but now you can’t tell me to shut up,” honey. No one like you existed or will exist.
A family spokesperson told People magazine, which broke the news first, that Keaton passed away in California on Saturday. Dori Rath, Keaton’s friend and producer, informed CBS News, the BBC’s US partner, of the actress’s passing.
