A Balanced Approach

At first glance, the thoughts of business and art coexisting or pragmatism living alongside spontaneity seem like contradictions. But in reality, these are not opposites, but are complementary forces.

Maria Bondarenko, founder of PMBA Strategic Advisory and cultural initiative “Renaissance of Classics,” embodies this integration through a career that bridges technology, business, and human development.

Key Milestones in the Journey

Maria Bondarenko

Maria Bondarenko’s path has always been defined by an intersection of disciplines that are not typically combined. Starting with a humanities-focused education, specializing in languages, she later pursued a degree in mathematics and computer science (cryptography and statistics), which shaped her structured way of thinking of systems, patterns, and cause-and-effect. Simultaneously, music, art, and self-expression were always an essential part of her emotional life, bringing inspiration and energy.

Maria reflects, “These two dimensions — analytical and expressive, developed in parallel and later became foundational to my work. I entered the IT industry early, working as a technical writer and business analyst. What became clear quite quickly was that technology itself is rarely the core problem. The real challenge lies in how people think, make decisions, and structure complexity.”

Maria highlights that the creation of PMBA in the early 2000s — a methodology and training system for project managers and business analysts, was one of the first turning points for her, as it was built from practice, not theory. Over time, it evolved into something broader: a way to accelerate business performance through structure and clarity of thinking.

In 2005, Maria joined a travel technology company, where she transitioned from leading a department to becoming a co-owner and top executive. Her primary attention was on developing a complex ERP solution for the tourism industry. Building a product at scale, working with global clients, and receiving international recognition, including awards in Dubai, was an important validation of her long-term strategic thinking.

She even mentions, “Yet perhaps the most unexpected evolution came later, in 2019, when I founded the ‘Renaissance of Classics’ initiative — my private fund to support classical musicians, a contribution to the aesthetics and culture in contemporary life. Through this, together with partners we developed music therapy programs that combine classical music with neuroscience and psychology, presented internationally — from Dubai and Vienna to Carnegie Hall in New York. What started as a cultural initiative revealed something deeper: the direct connection between human state, cognition, and performance.

This ultimately led me to formalize my expertise in neuropsychology and to expand my consulting business PMBA into a broader business advising practice. Today, my work integrates systems thinking, human behavior, and strategic growth across industries.”

Spark Behind the Vision

The original idea of Maria Bondarenko behind PMBA was very practical: to help professionals deal with complexities in projects and make better decisions.

Over time, she began to see recurring patterns across completely different industries. Whether in IT, tourism, or event production, the underlying challenges were remarkably similar: lack of clarity, fragmented thinking, and inefficient structures.

Her vision evolved from improving project execution to transforming how businesses operate at a deeper level. Today, PMBA is less about “management” and more about alignment — between strategy, systems, and human energy. “What also became essential is the integration of disciplines. Business cannot be separated from psychology, just as performance cannot be separated from internal state. This is where the combination of technology, neuroscience, and even art becomes not just interesting, but necessary,” Maria comments.

Core Offerings by Maria Bondarenko

At its core, Maria’s work focuses on business acceleration and strategic clarity. This includes high-level advisory for founders and top management, restructuring of business processes, development of scalable systems, and decision-making frameworks that allow companies to grow without unnecessary complexity.

She mentions, “One area I find particularly meaningful is working with leadership teams to shift from reactive management to intentional design of their business. That often creates an immediate and measurable impact.”

Alongside this, Maria continues to develop international projects in music therapy and immersive experiences, which are not separate from business, as they address something many companies overlook: the inner state of individuals and teams.

Maria even mentions, “Currently, I am especially engaged in expanding formats that bring together business leaders, psychologists, and creatives to explore new models of collaboration. The goal is to create environments where both performance and well-being are treated as strategic priorities.”

Embracing Innovation and Excellence

Staying updated with the latest developments in the industry is a key factor to keep a business ahead of the competition. Innovation, in Maria’s view, does not come from chasing trends, but from understanding fundamentals deeply enough to adapt them to new contexts.

As her work spans multiple industries, Maria naturally sees patterns earlier. What emerges in technology often becomes relevant in management. She states, “What we learn in neuroscience reshapes how we think about productivity and decision-making.

I also maintain a very practical approach: continuous experimentation, short feedback loops, and real-world validation. Ideas must work in reality, not just in theory.

At the same time, I believe that true innovation today lies in integration. The future belongs not to narrow specialization, but to those who can connect different domains into coherent systems.”

Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Addressing the beginners in her field, Maria shares, “If I were to distill it into one idea, it would be this: clarity is your greatest asset. Early in my career, like many others, I focused on doing more — more projects, more effort, more complexity. Over time, I realized that growth comes not from adding, but from structuring. Understanding what truly matters in your business, and what does not, is a decisive advantage.

For entrepreneurs today, I would say: invest in how you think. Tools, technologies, and markets will change. Your ability to see structure, make decisions, and remain steady under pressure, that is what defines long-term success.

And perhaps equally important: do not separate achievement from the quality of your inner state and life experience. Sustainable success is built on both.”
