The FBI is Looking at the Minneapolis School Shooting as a Hate Crime Against Catholics

According to the FBI, a shooting at a Minneapolis school that killed two students and injured seventeen more is being looked at as an anti-Catholic hate crime. In a post on X, FBI Director Kash Patel stated, “The FBI is investigating this shooting as an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics.”

On Wednesday morning, when children were celebrating Mass in the city’s Annunciation Church, an assailant fired through the windows, killing the two youngsters, ages eight and ten. Police eventually identified the assailant as 23-year-old Robin Westman, who died at the scene of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Among others who paid their respects to the young victims was Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope, who expressed his “profound sadness” over the attack.

Reporters were informed by Police Chief Brian O’Hara that “this was a deliberate act of violence against innocent children and other people worshipping.

“Firing into a church full of children is utterly unimaginable in terms of cruelty and cowardice,” he remarked. In response to a question concerning Patel’s remark, he stated that the Minneapolis Police Department is spearheading the inquiry with assistance from federal organizations and would follow the evidence wherever it leads.
