To Mark America’s 250th Anniversary, the US Will Distribute Passports Featuring Trump’s Portrait

A State Department official announced Tuesday that the United States will soon begin issuing passports with an image of President Donald Trump on the inside. The official stated that the passport “will be the default passport out of the Washington Passport Agency when available” for persons renewing their passports in person at that location. “Online options or other locations will keep the existing passport design,” the official stated.

The appearance of Trump’s visage on US passports is the latest – and most significant – example of his image being utilized for an item purportedly commemorating the 250th anniversary of US independence. Unlike a commemorative coin or a national park pass, a US passport is an internationally recognized form of identity that is usually good for ten years.

According to a passport prototype, Trump’s face and signature in gold will appear on the inner cover. The State Department is planning to issue a limited number of uniquely designed U.S. passports to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary in July,” State Department spokeswoman Tommy Pigott said Tuesday.

These passports will have unique artwork and upgraded graphics while retaining the same security elements that distinguish the United States. Passports are the most secure documents in the world,” he stated.
