Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, said that the war in Iran has diverted attention from Russia’s aggression against his nation. He told CNN that it is a “big risk” to believe that attempts to put an end to the fighting in Ukraine cannot begin until the situation in Iran is resolved.
Zelensky stated on Wednesday that although technical negotiations with the United States are still ongoing, he does not “see the opportunity to meet… until the question, the case of Iran will be closed,” speaking to CNN’s Christiane Amanpour from the presidential office in Kyiv.
Zelensky noted that it was a “challenge” that the same group of US negotiators, headed by US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and US ambassador Steve Witkoff, were in charge of both the Iranian and Ukrainian wars.
Additionally, he stated that although he recognizes that the United States is currently concentrating on its war against Iran, it is crucial to remember that fighting is still going on in Ukraine. The credit, which was pledged to Kyiv months ago, has been long delayed because Victor Orbán, the outgoing prime minister of Hungary, was obstructing it and insisting that Ukraine resume the flow of Russian oil into Europe.
