Seven People Died in a Devastating Russian Attack on Ukraine

At least seven people were killed in Russian strikes across Ukraine overnight, including five in the center city of Dnipro, where an apartment building was reportedly targeted. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed the latest attack lasted “practically all night,” and rescue personnel were still looking for lives beneath the rubble in Dnipro on Saturday morning.

British jets were dispatched from Romania during the intense bombardment after Russian drones were discovered close the border, though the UK Ministry of Defence denied shooting them down. Meanwhile, Ukraine conducted some of its longest-range drone strikes deep within Russian territory.

In Yekaterinburg, about 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) from Ukraine’s border, the governor claimed six people were injured when a building was attacked; in adjacent Chelyabinsk, a local leader reported drones targeting an industrial plant were intercepted.

Russian missiles and drones also targeted the northern city of Chernihiv, where officials reported two deaths, as well as Odesa and Kharkiv. Ukrainian authorities said they repulsed the most majority of the more than 600 Russian drones, in what appeared to be the largest attack in several days. Zelensky stated on social media, “The Russians’ methods have not changed: strike drones, cruise missiles, and a substantial volume of ballistics.
